Caring for Our Vulnerable Elderly
Why Support the Vincentian ministries?
Most of us have been blessed with the presence of a special elder in our lives – be it a grandparent, parent, or family friend. We have shared a portion of their life’s journey – maybe from their prime and into their “golden years.” During that journey we’ve profited from their wisdom and unique perspective offered by maturity and experience.
And over the years we have also shortened our steps to keep pace with theirs. We’ve offered to take on small housekeeping and bookkeeping responsibilities. And we’ve worried when the phone goes unanswered.
None of this has diminished our love. Indeed it reminds us how much we value their presence in our lives -- however brief our time together.
But not everyone is as fortunate. What would you do if your loved one had out-lived their life’s savings and suddenly found themselves in need of care? Where would you go?
For more than 80 years the Vincentian member ministries have lived by the belief that quality of care is not linked to a bank account. Everyone is someone’s loved one and therefore deserving of a bright, clean environment filled with joy and daily kindness – a place that is theirs for as long as they need it.
This belief comes with a cost. Last year, the Vincentian member ministries provided over $5 million in benevolent care to our residents.
We do so because we must. Because we are compelled by the love of Christ. Because we follow in the footsteps of our founding patrons: St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac. And because we know you share our belief that all elderly, no matter their circumstances, are deserving of joyful, compassionate care.
There are two ways you can support our ministry:
